ESSER II

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation (CRRSA) Act was signed into law by President Trump on December 27, 2020. Additional funds were provided to school districts to address learning loss, the safe reopening of schools, testing/repairing/upgrading projects to improve air quality in schools, and other activities allowable by law. Spending categories allowed were the same as ESSER I, however, non-public school allocations were not required.

An additional allocation of funds was provided under ESSER II to encourage retention and recruitment. This allowed all qualified full and part-time employees to receive a $1,000 supplement. 49% of retirees received $490 based on state funding in eligible positions. Hourly employees received $500 based on work schedule thresholds 190 hours using local funds.
