WBL Opens New Opportunities
Work Based Learning (WBL) provides an opportunity for students to develop a variety of skills by expanding the walls of classroom learning to include a structured work experience that is based on students' individual career goals/pathway.
Work-Based Learning creates relevance and meaning for students by allowing them to apply the theory learned in the classroom to real-world settings. Adult mentors offer guidance to help students develop problem-solving skills, learn to work in teams, and meet the high standards of today's employers.
Why Work-Based Learning?
Today’s students face a number of new challenges in the future as young working adults. Many of these changes will be fueled by technological advances now prevalent in the business community. Fayette County’s Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship Programs offer students an opportunity to gain skills in a workplace setting to enhance the student’s academic and future career goals. This valuable experience will better prepare students as they move directly into the workplace or continue their education at the post-secondary level.
Employers aid the students’ education by assessing performance, creating relevant curriculum, and developing occupational skill standards specific to business and industry. No matter a student’s plans for the future, the Fayette County Work-Based Learning Program offers real world experience that will benefit students.
