College Visits
We recommend going on college visits before making a final decision on attending any of the colleges you are admitted to, and encourage students to take advantage of school breaks to see as many colleges as they would like.
SMHS juniors and seniors that provide prior notice of a college visit may use up to TWO school days for college visits and receive excused absences. Both visits must be completed prior to Spring Break. To be sure your visit will be excused:
-
-
-
At least 3 days before a scheduled visit, see Mrs. Nichols in the counseling office to receive a college visit form.
-
Take the form to all of your parents and all of your teachers for their signatures. Return this form to Mrs. Nichols.
-
When you return the first form, Mrs. Nichols will give you a second form that you will need to take with you to the college. This form must be signed by a college official.
-
Return the signed form to the attendance office upon your return to school.
-
-
You can find more information about the college visit policy here on the SMHS Attendance website.
